Health workers and other frontliners particularly in Metro Manila struggle to reach their places of work (and get back home) given the suspension of public transport particularly in Luzon amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Philippine General Hospital, The Pasig City Government’s City Transport Development and Management Office, Life Cycles PH, and Lend-a-Bike Project are among the groups and institutions organizing bike shares and bike donation drives.

Pasig Transport

Pasig Bike Share

Biking has been an important mode of transportation for thousands of ordinary commuters and should be given as much attention as any other mode. It is often the first responder in certain calamities and we clearly see the critical role that it now plays in transporting our essential frontline personnel and health workers.

We are temporarily repurposing the Pasig Bike Share units to help essential frontline government personnel and health workers get to work.

Join us in helping them continue delivering basic services. We are now accepting bike donations – old or new. PM or send us an email at PasigTransport.info@gmail.com

Thanks to everyone who contributed to our efforts to bring bikes to our hardworking frontliners. Because of your support, we’ve made it possible for over 700 frontiners to get to and from work [as of April 5]!

We still get a lot of requests for bikes from health workers, supermarket employees, security guards, pharmacists, and more, so any help towards this would definitely go a long way. We’re getting an influx of inquiries every day from our frontliners, some telling us their stories of walking for at least 3 hours after their shift. As much as we’d like to help out, we need more support to meet the current demand for bikes.

To our frontliners – thank you for your patience and for the hard work you’ve done throughout this ECQ period. We are trying our best to get bikes to your workplace. In the meantime, you can also check out Life Cycles PH Community to see if there are bike lenders near your area!

For those who want to help out, a bike set (bike with lock and helmet) costs around P5,000. Help out our frontliners shorten their commute home by donating to:

Lend-a-Bike Project

When the Enhanced Community Quarantine was imposed in the National Capital Region to prevent the spread of COVID19, a lot of frontliners were forced to walk to and from work because public transportation was suspended. To answer this need, the Lend-A-Bike Project was born last March 17, 2020.

The Lend-A-Bike Project is an initiative to help alleviate this COVID-19 medical crisis by providing bicycles as alternative transport for our frontliners and health workers so that they can still perform duties.  This group serves as a platform to CONNECT volunteers who can lend their bicycles to workers in need.

[As of April 14] we are raising another Php 500,000 to buy 100 bikes that we will donate to 20 hospitals. We have made it easier for you to donate. We have made a partnership with Shopee. Please visit our store in your Shopee app and donate by purchasing any of the available donation coupons. You can purchase/ donate as low as Php 50.00. All proceeds will go directly to us.
