The Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC), represented by Executive Director Angelo Kairos dela Cruz, and the provincial government of Bohol, represented by Governor Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) showing their commitment to advance climate action and energy transition initiatives in the province.
As indicated in the MOU, both parties will bring forward low-carbon solutions, through data-driven research and capacity building, and establish greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories in the province as a key component of their enhanced Local Climate Change Action Plan (eLCCAP).
ICSC will provide support in the development of Bohol’s eLCCAP and Local Energy Plan, as well as the expansion of the province’s sustainable transport and renewable energy initiatives, while the government of Bohol will take charge of implementing these efforts and facilitating coordination among local government units and stakeholders in the province.
Also present in the MOU signing is Bohol Environment Management Office (BEMO) Head Jovencia Ganub, who noted that this partnership has been long-awaited, and that ICSC’s technical knowledge and experience on climate and energy are crucial in implementing these projects. The next step for Bohol is to begin the conduct of capacity building workshops on climate action and the energy transition to strengthen awareness of LGUs and stakeholders, Ganub said.
The MOU signing was held on March 17, 2025 at the Office of the Governor, Bohol Provincial Capitol, Tagbilaran City. It was also attended by representatives of the Bohol provincial sectoral offices, ICSC, and the Bohol Association of Non-Government Organization (BANGON).
