Independent Global Stocktake (iGST)
Southeast Asia Hub
The Global Stocktake (GST) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) “takes stock” of the implementation of the Paris Agreement to assess the world’s collective progress towards achieving its purpose (implementation) and long-term goals (ambition).
In support of the GST, the Independent Global Stocktake (iGST) is a non-exclusive data and advocacy consortium of civil society organizations established by ClimateWorks Foundation to monitor, evaluate, and support countries’ climate action strategies towards the Paris Agreement commitments. Workstreams include establishing regional civil society hubs in Latin America and the Caribbean, West Africa, and Southeast Asia.
The Southeast Asia Hub (SEA Hub), led by Philippine-based Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC) and Japan-based Institute for Global and Environmental Strategies (IGES), aims to provide a platform to amplify the voices of regional non-state actors in GST processes, and provide feedback for respective countries in updating their climate commitments or Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
About us
Countries in Southeast Asia share similar adaptation- and mitigation-related issues in facing climate change impacts, including:
Energy transition
Forestry and land use
Agriculture
Ecosystem-based adaptation
Disaster risk reduction
The iGST SEA Hub can provide opportunities for communities, experts, and practitioners to learn from countries’ best practices, support governments in achieving their climate commitments, and possibly adopt collaborative strategies in the region.
