Plenary Session 1: ASEAN Chairship & COP30 — Translating Commitments into Local Renewable Energy Development

This plenary session explores the outcomes of COP30 and their implications for the Philippines’ upcoming ASEAN Chairship in 2026, focusing on translating global climate commitments into actionable local renewable energy development. The dialogue highlights NDC updates, Global Stocktake findings, and climate finance mobilization, while examining how national agencies, ASEAN representatives, and local governments can collaborate to accelerate renewable energy deployment, strengthen energy security, and enhance climate resilience in Philippine communities. The session will showcase policy, financing, and technical pathways, as well as replicable local initiatives to demonstrate the Philippines’ leadership in driving just, regionally coordinated, and locally grounded energy transitions.

Moderator: Ms. Danica Marie Supnet, Director for Climate Policy, Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities
