Coal Dominance in the Philippines: Assessment of Operational Performance and Implications for the Philippine Energy Sector
This study assesses the operational performance of coal-fired power plants in the Philippines and examines their implications for energy security, reliability, and electricity costs. It aims to provide evidence-based insights to improve understanding of how coal’s dominance affects the country’s power system and consumers.
The findings are intended to inform policymakers, stakeholders, and energy sector actors in developing strategies that enhance grid reliability, reduce costs, and support a transition toward a more flexible and sustainable energy system for the Philippines.
