Compendium of Distributed Renewable Energy Systems in the Philippines

Developed and published by Preferred Energy Incorporated (PEI)

Globally, there has been a growing support for the use of distributed renewable energy systems (DRESs) to achieve universal energy access for the remaining unserved and underserved communities. Besides providing home electrification, DRES is also deployed for community applications focusing on both productive uses by households, and small to medium enterprises, as well as for social services including health and education, among others.

In the Philippines, numerous DRES projects have been implemented by and/or supported by the government, the private sector, non-government and community-based organizations, bilateral and multilateral development organizations, and philanthropic organizations.

This Compendium of Distributed Renewable Energy Systems in the Philippines is a compilation of selected DRES projects that have been implemented in the country and was prepared to serve as a tool to inform, create awareness and engender support and interest in the implementation of DRES. The Compendium presents a broad spectrum of experiences from which insightful lessons can be learnt and applied to ensure successful and sustainable DRES implementation.
