As part of the Philippine delegation and preparatory meetings to the 66th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UN CSW66), ICSC participated in the Asia-Pacific Regional Consultation on the Priority Theme in the UN CSW66 held last February 9-10, 2022. Informed by the organization’s work on the ground and with different partners, ICSC joined different parties and stakeholders from the region specifically calling for specific measures including:
- more investments in empowering women’s agencies and movements in all their forms;
- build on science but engage all disciplines – including arts, photography and literature to communicate the urgency of the climate crises with more women’s voices and narratives;
- foster collaboration through multi-stakeholder partnerships in filling in the gaps on data and to ensure gendered analysis in assessing vulnerabilities and risks on climate; and
- accelerate access to decentralized renewable energy and safe fuels to strengthen empowerment of women and girls on climate and disaster risks.
